Travel Day - Monday
Well, today was our last day in Ireland before we headed across to Scotland for the rest of our UK tour.
We had a great time in Ireland, saw lots and particularly enjoyed the countryside and one or two pubs (and one or two beers).
Our flight wasn’t due to leave till 3:15, so we had plenty of time to wander around and I had organised a late check out, so we didn’t have to check out of the hotel till 1:00.
We spent the morning wandering around Belfast, including heading up to the cathedral district and through the quite extensive pedestrian precinct in the middle of Belfast, admiring the many old buildings. It’s a very pleasant walk.
Leanne event found a Pandora store.
We got a message about 11:30 saying our flight had been delayed 2 hours - great 🙄. And then we got a message about an hour later saying the plane was leaving on time! So we caught our 600 bus out to the airport - a simple trip - and eventually got checked in. We're flying Emerald Airlines this time.
We found out we were travelling on a plane with propellers, which is the first time we’ve done that in a long time. It was an ATR72-600. Leanne was happy though because it had two propellers, which meant it could continue to fly at one fell off 😁.
It was a quick up and down and we landed in Edinburgh about 4:30. Edinburgh has a tram that runs from the airport and basically dropped us off about 400 metres from "home". Once we found the address, we then had to haul our luggage up three flights of stairs to the apartment. I lived.
It's a nice AirBnB apartment in the New Town.
One thing we did discover about our apartment though is that literally 10 metres in one direction is the Thistle Bar, where we had a couple of quiet drinks and a chat with the very informative barman.
5 metres in the other direction is Dusit, supposedly the best Thai restaurant in Edinburgh. We had a lovely dinner there as well. And then staggered the across the road back to our front door. The only problem was we had to drag ourselves up our three flights of stairs again.

Some people collect spoons on holidays nice to see you creative with beers. Lovely Irish architecture and now for Scotland. It seems you could create a Thai eatery catalogue from you’d tour 🤣 Enjoy
ReplyDeleteThose stairs look very tight!
