Road to Salisbury - Friday
Today we were travelling to Salisbury on our way back to London.
The forecast was good, so taking advantage of our English Heritage membership, we decided to hit a couple of castles on the way.
The first was Nunney Castle, a remarkably intact and impressive stone structure built in the 1300's. Unlike many other ruins, it was easy to visualise how this 4-storey imposing edifice would have looked in its heyday.
While we were at Nunney the heavens opened and the radar indicated a major front of extended downpour would be passing over for most of the afternoon. So we abandoned viaiting any more castles and headed direct to Salisbury.
By the time we'd settled in and Leanne had had her fortifying cuppa it was only drizzling so we headed in to have a look at Salisbury. Unfortunately, it was too late to get into the Cathedral, but we did have a look around.
We wandered through the town centre, with its many interesting old buildings.
